This multimedia ghost story engages readers through the combination of a written story and more than an hour of online video produced by Patrick Carman’s own PC Studios in Walla Walla, Washington. The story is broken into two parts, created by the book’s main characters—Ryan’s text in the book, and Sarah’s videos on a special website with links and passwords provided throughout the book.
Set near a real-life dredge near Carman’s Washington home, something mysterious is happening in Skeleton Creek. Ryan came close to finding the answer and nearly died in a mysterious accident. Now he’s trapped in his house and is forbidden by his parents from seeing his best friend Sarah. As the ghost story unfolds, Ryan chronicles for Sarah his experience in a journal (the book) while Sarah records her own unsettling observations of creepy things taking place in their haunted home town (the videos). Links to nine videos appear interspersed throughout the book, accessed online with passwords provided by Ryan, totaling more than an hour of video.
